Marketing

To support marketing and marketing communications professional practice, national occupational standards (NOS) in marketing have been developed.. The standards, which became available for access in March 2006, were developed over two years and were benchmarked against best practice in UK and abroad.

The functional map, which describes the key dimensions of the marketing profession, can be accessed here. Please note: the full list of the Marketing National Occupational Standards are available via the National Occupational Standards directory, by clicking here.

Review of the existing National Occupational Standards

The current sales and marketing national occupational standards (NOS) are being revised and your feedback is important to us. To contribute towards the projects, please email Joanne Adami at MSSSB: joanneadami@cim.co.uk

Marketing and Sales Standards for Non-Specialists

Marketing and Sales Standards for non-specialists have been developed to 'distil' the functions addressed by some 150 units of marketing/sales national occupational standards.

These standards are intended to guide and inform ‘non-specialist’ marketing and sales personnel in best practice across marketing and selling activities relevant to their needs.

It is recognised that many such ‘non-specialists’ are involved in marketing and selling, be they ‘general’ managers within large organisations or such managers and/or proprietors within SMEs.

A summary functional map, that describes the key dimensions of these standards can be accessed by clicking Functional Map.

The fully detailed list of the marketing and sales units for non-specilists can be accessed from the National Occupational Standards directory by clicking NOS for Marketing and Sales non-specialists.

These standards remain valid until a new set is developed following subsequent incremental revisions.
