New World-class Sales and Telesales Standards

The fully detailed list of the Sales and Telesales units can be accessed from the National Occupational Standards directory by clicking NOS for Sales

These standards will remain valid until a new set is developed following subsequent incremental revisions.

Current Foundation and Advanced Apprenticeships for Sales and Telesales

MSSSB has developed two Apprenticeship Frameworks for Sales covering England and Wales and Scotland. To find out more about the apprenticeships in sales and telesales and to complete the process of certification, please read the following documents:

The recently revised sales and telesales apprenticeship for England, Wales and Northern Ireland is effective from 1st August 2009. All new candidates should be registered on the new framework

All registrations prior to the 31st July 2009 will be honoured on the previous framework. We do however encourage all new registrants to transfer onto the new apprenticeship framework so not to disadvantage any learners. For the employer, there are many benefits to employing an apprentice. The LSC report (Rapid Review of Research on Apprenticeships, June 2008) demonstrated that:

• Apprenticeships improve business performance by making contributions to competitiveness; productivity; pfofitability and quality;
• The Net costs of Apprenticeships training are frequently lower than that of non-apprentices; and the productivity of apprentices enables employers to recover much of the costs involved;
• Apprentices tend to adopt company values and are more likely to remain with the employer than non-apprentices;
• Increasing the diversity of the Apprentice workforce has significant business benefits, as well as providing clear progression routes to higher levels in the organisation.
